District Announces School Registration Dates

(June 21, 2012) – Though students may not be thinking about returning to school, school district staff and many parents are counting the days. As part of the countdown, Darlington County School District has announced the schedule for registration for the 2012-13 school year.

All registration sessions will be open from 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 7:00 p.m. at the home school.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS - August 7, 2012

• Brunson-Dargan Elementary School

• Cain Elementary School

• Carolina Elementary School

• Lamar Elementary School

• North Hartsville Elementary School

• Pate Elementary School

• Southside Early Childhood Center

• Spaulding Elementary School

• Thornwell School for the Arts

• Washington Street Elementary School

• West Hartsville Elementary School

MIDDLE SCHOOLS & ROSENWALD: August 7 & 8, 2012

• Darlington Middle School

DARLINGTON, HARTSVILLE & MAYO HIGH SCHOOLS

• August 6 – 12th graders

• August 7 – 11th graders

LAMAR HIGH SCHOOL

• August 6 – 11th and 12th graders

• August 7 – 9th and 10th graders

The Darlington County Intervention School (DCIS) will hold registration from August 6 (6th-8th graders), August 7 (9th graders), August 8 (10th graders) and August 9 (11th & 12th graders). Registration will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. each day. Because of the amount of information covered, no one will be allowed entry after 10:30 am. There is also a registration fee of $25.00 and parents/guardians are required to attend orientation with their child.

The Darlington County Institute of Technology will hold registration Aughust 6 (12th graders), August 7 (11th graders) and August 8th (10th graders) from noon to 7:00 PM each day. All fees for DCIT courses must be paid for at DCIT. Any DCIT student taking the following class must have personal or school insurance (can be purchased through the school district):

• Ag Mechanics/Horticulture

• Auto Collision

• Auto Technology

• Electricity/Mechatronics

• Welding

• Engineering

• Graphics

• Health Sciences

• Machine Tool

To register for any school, parents/guardians should bring proof of residency containing a street address such as an electric/gas bill, water bill, tax notice, etc. to their child’s school. Parents should check with their local health department or physician for current information about immunizations.

Information on bus routes will be available at registration. Students who plan to ride the bus should visit the bus tables during registration to sign up for bus services.
